Vueling: lost luggage step by step

Generally, the pieces of luggage that are transported on flights arrive at their destination correctly, but occassionally there are cases, due to unforeseen circumstances, the luggage of some travelers can be lost or delayed.

In this case, to claim lost luggage through Vueling, there is a procedure that must be taken into account.

How to act at the airport if your suitcase does not appear?

The first thing is to go to the Lost and Found office, once there you will be provided with the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) which gives you the opportunity to notify Vueling of the incident, make a detailed description of the contents of your suitcase and to enable Vueling to start looking for your lost luggage.

As a general rule, all luggage lost by Vueling is usually located and delivered within the next 72 hours after the incident.

What should you do if your luggage shows up?

Once the PIR is open, the baggage search begins through a system that integrates all the airports. If the luggage is located, Vueling will inform you by text message, email or phone call and your baggage will be sent to the address provided in the PIR.

If you are not at your home address and due to Vueling loosing your luggage, you need to buy basic products such as change of clothes, hygiene products, etc. Save the tickets and present them later.

It is important to bear in mind that this claim can only be made once the suitcase has been delivered to you.

What should you do if your luggage does not appear?

If more than 5 calendar days have elapsed with the luggage lost by Vueling, it is possible that the bag tag has been lost and they will need more details about the contents of the luggage to locate it.

If 21 days have passed and Vueling has not notified you that your luggage has been located, you can request compensation for the lost objects and the damage caused. For this, it is important to have the following original documents:

  • PIR
  • Luggage check-in tag.
  • Boarding pass.
  • Copy of the passenger's identity document, it can be a DNI, passport, NIF or NIE.
